We are actively recruiting parents and other caregivers to join our State Advisory Council for our fourth year as a center and I would like you to share the application with PTAs in Ohio. Please encourage them to apply and to share the application with other families they know. This council provides our center with critical guidance from the perspectives of families, schools, business,es and other organizations. We are seeking parents and caregivers of children and youth, preschool through high school. The deadline is November 19, 2021.
What are expectations for a member?
- Family representatives are asked to serve one to two years if possible.
- A typical Advisory Council meeting provides members with information about family engagement, helps members connect with each other and resources in Ohio, asks members to provide guidance for the development of a tool, policy, or other resource, and requests assistance from members in building awareness of the importance of family engagement in their community.
- The Advisory Council meets four times a year, virtually, for about three hours (Must have access to technology to attend meetings).
- Each parent/caregiver will receive a stipend for their attendance for each meeting.
- Upon request, professional language interpretation can be provided so families who speak languages other than English may participate.
We are planning to have our application translated into other languages, and can fast-track that process if you let us know about a particular language needed.
Applications are limited to parents and caregivers who are not professional educators or administrators. In addition, children of parents and caregivers should be enrolled in the public school system.
Deadline for applications is November 19, 2021
