Angela's Advice (Membership Meeting)

MEMBERSHIP CONFERENCE CALL NOTES FROM 4-18-16

Convention recap: We discussed the Ohio Membership dues increase of  $0.75 that was voted on and approved during convention and what that means for your unit dues as well as Bylaws updates to reflect the change.

Membership Ideas Exchange for keeping things moving all year:

·        Having a table and showing your presence at every event your school and PTA host allows for conversation with parents and guardians and we can use that as a tool to let people know it is never to late in the year to join PTA.

·        Keeping things personal with phone calls, meeting invites, email updates and Thank Yous.

·        Making it easy to join your PTA unit by using social media to recruit and having the Membership Form online and the ability to collect dues through a payment processing service like Cheddar Up.

·        Importance of speaking to incoming parents NOW to help build your campaign for Fall.  This includes Kindergarten registration events and transition events from Elementary to Middle and Middle to High School.

·        Importance of having a Principal that is really invested in your unit and the PTA overall so that he/she can help encourage staff participation; keeping staff involved in your campaign with contests and incentives.

·        Trying to find appropriate translation software to bridge the language barriers many units face in a diverse building so that we are truly reaching and communicating with all families.

·        Sending newsletters or weekly updates to highlight upcoming PTA events as well as thank volunteers for events that have taken place.
