The State Board of Education may hire the next state superintendent WITHOUT a new search process! On June 13-14 the State Board of Education will meet and consider a resolution to instate Larry Hook as the new state superintendent and completely bypass a NEW, transparent search process. Larry Hook was a candidate from the Board's previous shortlist of finalists. This concerning resolution comes after Stephen Dackin's sudden resignation as superintendent amid growing scrutiny over his role in leading the hiring process as the Board vice president, before applying for the position himself. Approval of this resolution removes Ohioans from this important search process and makes the controversial process even worse. Ohioans deserve an honest, transparent hiring process that allows us to review candidates, submit feedback, and inform the decision-making. TAKE ACTION HERE |
