Makers for Medics Maple Intermediate PTA

Hello Volunteers, Makers, Donors, and Recipients,

Thank you for your help keeping our community safe and healthy during this pandemic.

Throughout this project we have worked with tremendous urgency to help as much as we can.  In the middle of such a rush, it is easy to forget to update and thank those that have made all of this work possible.

We wanted to share three key items-

1.      We are proud to share with you that we have directly donated our 10,000th face shield this week.

While the Makers for Medics project of the North Olmsted Maple Intermediate School PTA has led the way, we have been assisted by so many more.  Over 120 3D printers, 80 volunteer families, a dozen educational groups and hundreds of donors have joined together for this effort.  We have directly given to recipients from Erie County to Ashtabula, from Cuyahoga County to Tuscarawas and everywhere in between.  With other volunteer groups, we have assisted with components or assembly of an additional 7,000 donated shields.

As we have reached peak production, we are writing to share with you all that has been accomplished and how we will be moving forward.

2.      We are proud to announce that we are now going to be fulfilling direct requests from organizations and individuals, so please share the link - https://forms.gle/v2XEFTzTJr2KmMDa7.

Here is the status of the need as we know it in Northeast Ohio-

We have helped satisfy the needs of all urban and rural hospital requests we have received.  Most police, fire and EMS workers now have some level of protection, but it is not universal. Nursing homes, which are bearing the brunt of the disease, are still in need.  Secondary medical providers including urgent cares, home health workers, morticians, dialysis and dental providers are largely lacking in adequate protection.

3.      We will be seeking to directly produce an additional 6,000 more shields before we conclude the project on June 30th, funds permitting.  If you know of those who are in need of help, can assist the effort or contribute funds, please direct them to visit www.maplepta.com   We also share our updates on Makers for Medics Facebook page @MakersForMedicsPTA

Many of you have only directly interacted with someone from Makers for Medics.  We wanted each of you to share some of the joy and scope of what you have helped be a part of with now individuals and organizations across 12 counties.

We will post photos of individuals and thank you notes on our Facebook page, but attached is an attempt to list as many of the makers & volunteers, donors, and recipients as we could.  If we missed anyone, we apologize and would appreciate you letting us know for our final list at the end of the project.

Once again, thank you for your service to our community!
