The following amendments to the Ohio PTA Bylaws will be voted upon at our April 12-14, 2019 Convention.
1. Amend Article XI:
Executive Committee Section 6 d by striking “Executive Director” and
inserting “office staff”.
New Wording: d.
Evaluate the office staff.
Rationale:
We no longer have an Executive Director and need to have an
evaluation process for current office staff.
2. Amend Article XII: Directors and District
Advisors Section 1 e by striking “Education” and re-letter,
and renaming “Director of Advocacy” to “Director of Advocacy/Education”.
Rationale: Since
many education issues in Ohio today are best addressed through advocacy efforts,
it is fiscally responsible to combine the positions of Director of Education
and Director of Advocacy.
3. Amend Article XIV:
Committees Section 1 o by striking “Printing” and re-letter.
Rationale:
Ohio PTA is continuing to transition from paper to electronic documents to be
fiscally and environmentally responsible.
Therefore a printing committee is no longer needed and their duties will
be re-assigned to other board members.
4. Amend Article XVIII: Ohio PTA Achievement
Award Section 1 by striking “and a one year
subscription to the the Ohio PTA The Voice”
and insert “and be added to the Ohio PTA communications list.”
New Wording:
Section 1. There shall be an Ohio PTA Achievement Award, which may be purchased
through the Ohio PTA office by any person or local PTA/PTSA that may wish to
honor an individual who has rendered outstanding service to children and youth. The recipient shall receive a pin,
certificate and be added to the Ohio PTA communications list.
Rationale:
There is no longer a print subscription to the Ohio PTA
newsletter.
5.
Amend Article XX: Corporation Section 4 by striking the whole section 4, “The
top administrative staff member has the authority to employ other office staff
with the approval of the Executive Committee.”
Rationale:
With the change in our office staff structure this is no longer applicable.
6. Amend Article IV: Constituent Associations
by adding a new section 11 and re-numbering.
New
Wording: Local PTAs/PTSAs must have greater than 35 members to be
eligible to apply for National and Ohio PTA grants.
Rationale:
To be able to successfully implement a grant, a unit needs
to have the support of a broad based membership.
