Students to Superintendents: Key Stakeholders’ Qualitative Perspectives and Experiences with Local School Wellness Policies

This presentation will outline the key qualitative findings from the National Wellness Policy Study’s stakeholder focus groups and interviews. We will describe stakeholders’ experiences and perspectives related to school nutrition and local school wellness policy implementation and evaluation. Stakeholders included food service directors, high school students, superintendents, and parents of middle school students from states across the U.S. Findings will include recommendations for schools and school districts to facilitate stakeholder engagement, implementation, and ongoing sustainability of wellness initiatives. National Principal and Parent Surveys 2018: Findings on Active School Environments

The national Active Schools movement is committed to making it easier for schools to provide an active school environment, which is 60 minutes a day of physical education and before, during and after school physical activity. Our current target audiences are principals and parents, so in 2018 we conducted two nationally-representative surveys on principals' and parents' knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors about active school environments.
