Ohio PTA invites families to learn more about Ohio School Report Cards

Join the Ohio PTA and the Department for the next Parent Academy on Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. The Parent Academy will feature a presentation about the Ohio School Report Cards and the reforms coming to the 2021-2022 report cards. The event meeting format has changed from previous events to encourage audience participation.

H4OE is hiring a full-time contracted Youth and Young Adult Organizer to engage and activate middle schoolers, high schoolers, and young adults around protecting honesty in education. This role will organize and mobilize a statewide youth network to combat efforts at the Statehouse, State Board of Education, and local school districts that seek to restrict and censor education around racism, sexism, and identity.


The coalition is seeking someone with a firm commitment to honest education, youth engagement experience, and demonstrated leadership in activism or community organizing around racial and social justice issues.

Join us for an in-depth discussion about the importance of protecting Honesty in Education and the impact partisan politics is having on Ohio education at the Statehouse, State Board of Education, and local school districts.

The forum will examine how state leaders are weaponizing education, race, and identity in an attempt to erode trust and confidence in Ohio public education. This assault on public education has manifested in harmful legislation to censor education around racism and sexism, political pressure to dismantle anti-racism and equity frameworks, and concerted efforts to eliminate Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in local school districts.

Panelists will address three specific threats facing Honesty in Education in Ohio:

Announcing the 2021-22 Breakfast and Beyond Recognition

Get ready to participate in the Ohio School Breakfast Challenge (OSBC)- 2021-22 Breakfast & Beyond recognition program. Look for an email from Survey Research/Alchemer in early January 2022 with instructions for school districts to submit stories that demonstrate a collaborative approach and innovative strategies to expand access and participation in school meals. Stories will be accepted thru April 15, 2022.

 

Participating districts will receive

·       an electronic medallion for your use on school menus, website, social media, school district profile & other community-focused communications.

·       social media messages and a press release to share with your district and the community.

 

Each month a selection of stories will be shared with all Ohio School Breakfast Challenge partners, Ohio Education Associations and their membership, and other education, health, and child-focused organizations.
