PTA Leaders,
It has been quite a month! Last weekend was our 113th
annual Ohio PTA Convention at the Embassy Suites in Dublin. I hope you enjoyed
the hotel, the workshops and the networking as much as I did. If you were not
able to join us, please mark your calendars for April 17-19, 2020 for next
year’s convention.
There are two new National PTA grants available- the Mary
Lou Anderson ArtsEd Award for units and the Transformative Family Engagement
& Whole Child Learning Grant for councils. Go to pta.org to learn
more and apply for these grants before their fast approaching deadlines.
And finally, many of you received a call or email notifying
you that your unit had not submitted dues this year. This was the result of an
error made during a National PTA pilot project. You will find National PTA’s
explanation below.
“Recently, National PTA worked in partnership with
Ohio PTA to reach out to local PTAs that had not reported membership for this
year to see if they needed assistance or had questions. Unfortunately, the
company that was making the calls on National PTA’s behalf also called local
PTAs that had already reported membership numbers. We want to offer our
sincerest apologies if you were accidentally contacted and thank you for your
PTA partnership on behalf of our children.”
Again, I’m sorry for the concern and inconvenience
these calls caused you. The entire Ohio PTA Board and I appreciate your commitment to PTA and
your students, schools and families.
As you begin planning for next year, please keep in mind the many turn
key programs available from National PTA. Take advantage of the personal
service offered by your District Advisor and do take time to enjoy the many end
of year events at your school and for your PTA. More on transitions next month…
Susan
