Jan. 28, 2019 Understanding Each Child, Our Future: Standards, Assessment and Accountability (Strategies 4-6) Each Child, Our Future is Ohio’s five-year strategic plan to ensure each student enjoys a bright future thanks to an excellent preK-12 education experience. This is the eighth in a 12-part series that walks EdConnection readers through the plan. Last week, we covered strategies 1-3 that address excellent educators and instructional practices. This week, we take a close look at strategies 4-6, which deal with standards, assessments and school accountability. 2019 Ohio School Climate State Grant: applications open Feb. 21 The grant enables the Department to give eligible school buildings financial assistance to implement Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) frameworks and evidence- or research-based social and emotional learning initiatives. 2019 Federal Quota Registration of Blind Students registration deadline extended to March 1 The Ohio Department of Education’s Office for Exceptional Children asks districts to register every legally blind student attending a district school, including all eligible preschool, homebound, home-schooled and adult students. Spanish Visiting Teacher Program applications now open The Ohio Department of Education now is accepting applications from schools or districts interested in taking part in the Spanish Visiting Teacher Program for the 2019-2020 school year.
